The RIO Aquatics Department offers a variety of classes for adults 18 and older with and without disabilities. We offer general water exercise programs as well as specialized classes for people with arthritis, who have suffered from a stroke or head injury, have Fibromyalgia or other ailments that may hinder mobility. All classes are conducted by experienced, trained certified Instructors. The Aquatics Department also offers pool parties! Click on the following link for details: “Host a Pool Party!”
Water Exercise (WEP)
Monday and Wednesday: 8:30am – 9:15am
Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8:30am – 9:00am
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 1:15pm – 2:00pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 1:15pm – 1:45pm
A general conditioning pool exercise program designed for individuals, who have various conditions, which might hinder their range of motion, as well as for those interested in general exercise. Each session is taught by experienced instructors. This is a 30 minute instructor led class. 15 minutes is set aside at the start and end of each class for independent warm up and cool down.
Monday and Wednesday: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 7:15pm – 8:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am – 9:00am
This water exercise program offers full-body cardio for participants of all fitness levels and is designed to help sustain and improve joint mobility, tone muscles, and improve endurance levels in a fun, supportive class environment. This class is 60 minutes instructor led.
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 10:00am – 10:30am
A group water exercise program geared for individuals recovering from a stroke, head injuries, or other brain injuries resulting in hemiparesis or hemiplegia. Enrollment in this class includes the use of the Independent Exercise times.
Tuesday and Thursday: 11:30am – 12:15pm
A water exercise, pain management, and relaxation class developed exclusively for individuals diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Enrollment in this class includes the use of the Independent exercise times, in addition to the scheduled Tuesday/Thursday structured class times.
Tuesday and Thursday: 10:30am – 11:15am
This fun, fast paced, body sculpting workout is all about feeling the music, moving to the beat, letting go and having a great time. All while enjoying the benefits of water resistance. Great for both new and long term participants.
Independent Exercise (IND):

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10:30am – 11:45am
Monday – Thursday: 2:00pm – 5:00pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 9:00am – 10:30am

A water exercise program designed for individuals who wish to exercise independently. This program is for individuals who may have various conditions, which may hinder their range of motion, have specified exercises assigned from a physician as well as for those interested in general aquatic exercises.
Family Swim (FS):
Monday and Wednesday: 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Saturday: 10:00am – 1:00pm
Family-Swim is designed for parents and their children to enjoy exercising and swimming together. All children under the age of 6 must be accompanies by an adult in the water. Adults should be no further than one arm’s length away from children or other non-swimming family members.
