Rehabilitation Institute of Southern California (RIO) is a nonprofit organization established in 1950 to serve the multi-faceted needs of people with intellectual, neurological, and physical disabilities caused by birth defects, disease, medical conditions or accidents. Located in Orange, Fullerton, and San Clemente, RIO offers a variety of health, wellness, and educational services for people of all ages with disabilities.
RIO is incorporated as a tax exempt organization in California, under the Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3), and is not classified as a private foundation as defined by Section 509(a). Tax ID number: 95-1792279
Depending on the program, RIO receives funding from Regional Center of Orange County, CalOptima, Department of Education, CalWorks, Children’s Home Society, and private insurances. In addition, Rehabilitation Institute of Southern California receives support from voluntary organizations, bequests, special gifts, and grants.
RIO is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors whose members serve without monetary compensation.
